Robotic Surgery

Dr Niazy Selim has been and continue to be a pioneer in Robotic (da Vinci) Surgery. He started his robotic experience in 2005. Back then, there was only a hand full of surgeons who performed robotic surgery.

Dr Selim is heavily involved in teaching the robotic surgical technology to medical students, surgery residents, practicing surgeons and international institutions.

From Dr. Selim’s view, the da Vinci Surgical System takes the promise of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) to higher level.  “The da Vinci System Robotic platform is the perfect example of the complex integration between advanced computer technology and the wonderful unmatched human body”, Dr. Selim says. The system features a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and small wristed instruments that bend and rotate to resemble the human’s hand. As a result, da Vinci enables the surgeon to take his/her laparoscopic skills to another level.

In Dr. Selim large robotic patients cohort, he is able to apply this technology to treat complicated surgical diseases that otherwise would have recieved traditional open surgery. The approach of minimally invasive da Vinci robotics technology was beneficial to Dr. Niazy Selim’s patients who experience less than 24 hours hospital admission, early recovery, less pain and higher overall satisfaction.

Dr. Niazy Selim has adopted every new techology introduced by Intuitive Surgical for the benefits of his patients. He believes that, as time goes, full integration of computers in the oerating room will be the norm.
