Dr. Selim earned his medical degree from Mansoura University School of Medicine in Mansoura, Egypt, where he did a surgical internship and was a resident physician. Following the residency Dr Selim joined the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery as a Surgery Fellow. Upon concluding his fellowship, he earned his PhD.
He also completed a surgical internship at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia. To satisfy the requirements of the American Board of Surgery he finished another surgical residency at the University of Missouri Kansas City. Dr. Selim spent two years as a Research Fellow in Hepatobiliary Diseases in the Department of Surgery and Digestive Diseases, Department of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine.
